Legend Solar moves up from 29th to 27th on the Inc. 5000 list

It’s a little like watching your favorite band make its way up the music industry’s Billboard charts — but even more exciting.

When it comes to seeing who’s who among the nation’s fastest growing private companies, the Inc. 5000 list is where you want to see your name. Once again Legend Solar not only made the cut — they moved up a couple of spots. Something they weren’t necessarily expecting.

With three years running with 400 percent growth year over year, Shaun Alldredge, owner and co-founder of Legend Solar, says they felt that perhaps they’d see the numbers level off this year. But they were wrong.

“We were pleasantly surprised,” Alldredge says of the continued growth and the latest Inc. 5000 listing.

Legend Solar installers work on setting panels on a home in Utah. Legend Solar moved up from 29th to 27th on the 2017 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in the United States.Legend Solar’s explosive growth pushed the St. George-based renewable energy company upward from No. 29 in 2016 to No. 27 in 2017. In other words, Legend Solar has logged a three-year growth of 9,222 percent.

“We’re grateful for the honor,” Legend Solar owner and co-founder Shane Perkins says of the 2017 Inc. 5000 list.

Crediting homeowners throughout Utah, Oregon, Nevada and Wyoming for the continued success, Perkins says this immense growth comes with its own set of challenges — but he knows the Legend Solar team is up to the task of meeting and exceeding the expectations placed on them by customers and by themselves.

“We have an awesome team to thank for putting us in this position,” Alldredge says. Then, as if he can feel how trite such a phrase will sound he winces and laughs and adds, “I know it sounds cliché, but it really is true! Everyone pitches in to make something like this happen.”

Making the cut

In order to be included in the world-renowned Inc. 5000 list, private companies must submit to a rigorous application process, provide financial documentation and compete against some of the brightest and best in a wide range of industries.

This year, 100 Utah-based companies made the list, two from the solar industry.

Alldredge says they are always honored to have Legend Solar recognized for its many achievements, but inclusion on Inc. 5000 is the one of the most prestigious nods any company can receive.

“Inc. 5000 is very recognizable,” Alldredge says. “It’s branded worldwide. We have had people take note of it on an international level.”

And who knows. Next year may bring Legend Solar even higher on the list.

“We look forward to continuing our strong growth in the future,” Perkins says.
